In order to promote fansub groups as well as shows that were currently airing in Japan at the time, officers showed a new anime's first episode a week, usually in the first time slot. This also allowed the schedule to have a new show each week and let members know what other anime is out.
In the 2014-2015 school year, the officers decided to switch to Simulcast o' the Week due to the prominence of simulcasts replacing fansub groups and having an easier way to show anime legally for a more inexpensive price; the officers and club would not have to buy DVDs/Blu-Rays for all the shows. Currently, they are using Crunchyroll to stream anime to members.
Rules for Fansub o' the Week
- Only show just the first episode
- Cannot show anime that are sequel seasons (unless the first episode gives enough of a recap/is somewhat like a reboot)
- Not released in U.S. (not counting simulcasts)
- Subtitled by fans
- Possibly being considered for next year's schedule if it is being licensed and/or has enough DVDs out in order to show it in club.
- Not usually shown the week we have our annual movie night as to allow ample time for the movie to play.
