Here are the rules taken from the MnA deviantART page:
- - You can submit as many entries as you like! Since this is a contest for different designs for a T-shirt, the more ideas, the better!
- No licensed/copyrighted characters, please. You can design anything original, but we cannot have licensed characters on our shirts.
- There must be the character "minna" from Minna no Anime, the words "Minna" or "Minna no Anime", or "Minna no Anime" in Japanese in your design. If you want the Japanese characters, Phyllis can upload her version of the vertical "Minna no Anime" characters seen in this shirt or you can get it from the official Minna no Anime logo here: link
- Anyone can submit - even non-members! If you're not in club/in the SLO area, please send your entry to minnaTreasurer at gmail dot com. If you want, explain the idea behind the shirt, and we will read it out during club.
- Collaborations can happen for the T-shirt contest, but when I say "collaboration", I do not mean that two+ artists can work on it. I mean someone can give you the idea of the T-shirt and you can design it for them. Just in case someone isn't that good at art, they can still participate in the contest by providing an idea. Make sure to give them credit when you're explaining the idea at club/in your e-mail.
- When you're finished with your entry, you can show it to club for voting on paper or digitally. If digitally, make the preview picture 1000x1000 pixels or smaller.
- If you win the contest (congratulations!), please make it into a .psd or .ai file at at least 300dpi. A vector file is better, but .psd will do, too. If you can't use Photoshop/don't have access to it, please let one of the officers know, and we'll handle it for you. You also get your T-shirt for free!
Rules for Shirt Colors/Type of Colors on Shirt:- Digital Printing: White Shirts
- - Uses DTG printing. Check this link out to see what DTG printing is.
- Unlimited colors! Anything that's white, make it transparent in your .psd/.ai file - that's your T-shirt color!
- Dimensions: 12" width x 16" height
- You can submit a .png for this one, if you wish.
- NOTE: the colors on the shirt MAY NOT look like what's on your monitor. It's suggested to print out your picture to see what the colors will really look like.
- - This is the screen printing method. You can check this link for more information. This is how we've been printing our shirts since forever.
- You can only use 4 colors in your design. The T-shirt color you pick is an "additional" color, so, in essence, it's 5 colors.
- Dimensions: 13" width x 15" height
- The T-shirt colors you can pick from can be found here: Fruit of the Loom, GILDAN #2000, and GILDAN #5000. When you finish your .psd/.ai file, please note in the layer for the T-shirt color what color shirt name it is as well as the shirt type. For example, my layer would be called "Ash - GILDAN #5000".
- NOTE: Not all colors will match to a ladies' tee shirt or zipped/non-zip hoodie. Yellow is NOT available for zipped hoodies. The officers will try their best to match your selected T-shirt color for those garments.
- Please try to use only Pantone (PMS) colors. In Photoshop, there's swatches made available to you. One of them should be titled "pantone solid coated". Use that to select your colors.
- If you want to do a "gradient", check out these FAQs: link or link Mind you, you only really have 5 colors, so doing halftones could be really difficult.
- - Uses DTG printing. Check this link out to see what DTG printing is.
Rules for Creating the Logo:- - It's not necessary to create the front logo, but if you want to design it, do so!
- CANNOT have the words "Cal Poly", "California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo", etc. Just mention the club name and the year the shirt is for.
- Dimensions: 4" width x 3" height
- If you're doing a colored shirt, use only the 4 colors you had chosen before. Otherwise, all other rules apply.
- Digital Printing: White Shirts
If you have any questions (like why can't we use "Cal Poly" on our shirts), e-mail Phyllis at goofanader@gmail.com , ask on the forum, or ask an officer in real life, namely Phyllis, since she's the one handling all the T-shirt stuff.
