New to town!

Hi all. My real name is Meg, but online I go by Strawberry. I'm not a Cal Poly student, I actually graduated in 2008 from The Art Institute of San Francisco (B.S. in Graphic Design), but I recently moved to SLO for a job and don't have any friends here yet. I just want to find some like-minded nerds to hang out with. :) Are you guys already meeting again? If so, when and where?

Hi Strawberry, we're back from break and starting up again this week. ^^

The first meeting coming up is the Thursday night social meeting (Minna no Manga) on-campus tonight from 6-10pm. We hang out/play games/read manga/sometimes watch anime/whatever people want to do. The location for that this quarter is building 10 room 221. That one can be hard to get to for non-Poly members, since it's a school day and so the campus IS charging for parking. I live close enough to campus I usually just walk or bike.

Our main meetings start back up this Saturday night from 5-10pm. That's in the Silo (building 3 room 213), the same place we usually meet. Directions can be found on the club info page on the main site. Parking right nearby is free on weekends (except when there's a game in the stadium, then you have to park farther away -- that's mostly only a problem in Fall Quarter during Football season).

We look forward to meeting you! ^^

I usually watch anime on my own, so the Thursday night social meets sound perfect. I would love to try and make it tonight. I don't mind paying for parking...how much is it for a few hours, do you know? Is it just metered? I don't live near enough to walk, so I most definitely need to drive in. Any suggestions for a newbie? Thanks in advance! :)

You can either buy a daily parking permit, which I think is around $5, and then park in a General spot... or you can find a metered spot -- there are some fairly near to the building we meet in. Bring a lot of quarters, I think meters are something ridiculous like $1.50/hr?

Either way, parking is enforced until 10pm.

You can also park vaguely kinda sorta near campus (as close as you can get without parking on a street that requires residential permits) for free and then have about a 10minute walk. I do that sometimes when I'm heading there right after work.

I don't know if you were at MnM yesterday but I would also like to welcome you to town and encourage you to join us on Saturday's.

Same here. I only ever watched anime by myself before MNA. Now I realize what I was missing.

Oh, are we doing testimonials now? Sweet.

Before Minna, all I had was my basement and my computer. But thanks to Minna, I'm swimming in females! I also lost 2094 pounds and gained a 24-pack of abs! For a quarterly installment of just $2!? If it worked for me, it can work for you too! Thanks Minna!

Thank you Andy for your constructive input. Since the core question of this thread has long since been answered, I am going to intervene this to prevent further derailment. Any further discussion may be carried out in Off-Topic or Minna no Anime/Manga. If derailment continues, I will lock this thread.

The Minna Forums: no fun allowed.
Y'all are a bunch of tightwads now.

FTFY. I mean, that would be like a train pulling into the station, all the passengers getting off, and then it tipping over for no real reason while stationary. I mean, I guess it counts as derailing, but no one cares.
